Yatala is a rapidly developing suburb straddling the Pacific Motorway halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, transforming from rural farmland into a major industrial and commercial hub. The suburb is famous for the iconic Yatala Pie Shop, a roadside institution serving travellers for over 130 years, and the Yatala Twin Drive-In cinema that remains one of Australia's few remaining outdoor picture theatres. Since 2006, over 300 businesses have established operations here, taking advantage of the strategic location between two major cities. The Albert River bounds the suburb to the north and west, with some residential pockets remaining amid the industrial growth.
